Latest round of results announced from Concours Virtual

The latest round of results from the 2020 Concours Virtual have been announced. This week the judging focused on Class F: Golden Age of Detroit and Class G: Concept Cars of the 1970s. The calibre of the entrants was impressive and the judges had some difficult choices to make. But the results are in and the winners have been announced.

Class F: The Golden Age of Detroit

1949-1964 brought together some of the most over the top and fabulous designs from one of the greatest periods of American car design. The optimism and glamour of the American dream were reflected in the fins, the chromework and the sheer size of the cars, many of which were represented in this class, sponsored by Chattanooga Motorcar Festival.

The impressive 1949 Cadillac 62 Club Coupe which won both the Judges’ and the people’s vote

Ultimately the judges’ vote went to the stunning 1949 Cadillac 62 Club Coupe owned by Loren Hulber. Inspired by the P-38 Lightning, it set the design standards for GM for many years and was a huge departure from anything gone before. Visitors to the site agreed and also awarded the Cadillac first prize.

Class G: Concept Cars of the 1970s

Moving onto the next class category, the judges were treated ti the Concept Cars of the 1970s. This exciting category brought together seven of the greatest concept cars from key manufacturers of that iconic decade. With BMW Classic the sponsor of the class, their own BMW Turbo was excluded from the judging, but was still highly commended by the judges, which included Andrea Zagato and Lyn St. James.

The iconic 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero took home the Judges’ top vote

The Judges went for the truly outstanding Lancia Stratos Zero, one of the most historically important concept cars ever created. Amazingly for what was a show car it is still in running order and remains beautiful and stylistically fascinating.

70 Years of F1 and Junior Concours Contenders Revealed

Class O: Junior Concours, sponsored by R & T Crew, celebrates the pedal and mechanical cars of childhood, from the mass -produced Austin J40 to the extremely rare Motorscoot Motokar. A fun class, which has attracted some very serious cars and some very competitive collectors.

The next class to be revealed is Class J: 70 Years of the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship. Some of the most important Formula 1 cars are on show in this class, sponsored by Hexagon Classics. From the very first BRM Type P15 Chassis Number 1 (1950), which Fangio considered ‘the best Formula 1 car ever made’ to the breathtakingly beautiful 1991 Ferrari 643, which featured as a work of art in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
